On June 18th, 2019, the REDD+ Coordination Unit held the launching of the national Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) workshop, at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel in San Ignacio Town. This workshop was part of the consultation process with the forest sector and forest-dependent communities for the development of SESA for the Belize REDD+ Readiness Project. 

During the workshop, a project summary was presented to the stakeholders, highlighting that the current REDD+ Readiness phase is the first of three phases of REDD+ in Belize, and is a preparatory phase for assessing, safeguarding and preparing plans.
